Agency Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters) held a training seminar

International seminar "Improving the use of the Web of Science information platform by the Clarivate Analytics (Thomson Reuters)" was held on February 15 by the Department of International Relations of ANAS. The event was attended by employees of scientific institutions and organizations of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, including employees of the Institute of Law and Human Rights of ANAS. At the seminar, the agency's expert Valeria Kurmakaeva made a report on how to choose the best magazine for her scientific articles and how to avoid "predatory" journals. In her presentation, she described the "possibilities of searching for the Web of Science platform, "How to distinguish between quality journals and predatory journals", "Requirements for international journals and the writing of their respective articles", "Preparation of accurate summaries of articles" and "Use of EndNote support tools". Touching upon the importance of creating a profile of the researcher on the platform, Kurmanayeva said that such profiles are an important tool for integration into the professional academic society, and many opportunities have been created for users. The expert noted that in recent years "predatory journals" have appeared in the world with the aim of deception and appropriation of scientists' money. She said that such publishers would quickly publish articles sent, ensure that the article was reviewed immediately, and demand immediate payment. In addition, scientists are not provided with any information about the editorial board of these publishing houses.
Kurmakaeva says that the Web of Science has influential and impact factor journals, calls on scientists to be cautious in this regard.
Then Valeria Kurmakaeva answered the questions of interest to the participants.
