Institute of Law and Human Rights Presents the Third Monitoring Report on Legal Journals

On March 3, the Institute of Law and Human Rights presented to the legal community its third Monitoring Report, reflecting the current state of journals publishing scholarly articles in the field of law. The report was compiled based on the results of an online survey conducted among a total of 764 legal professionals and 19 legal journals.

Addressing the event, Mr. Mahammad Guluzade, Chairman of the Institute’s Board, stated that the survey conducted for the preparation of the monitoring report has been carried out for three years. According to the survey results, the five most widely read journals are “Polis Akademiyasının Elmi xəbərləri” (“Scientific News of the Police Academy”) (40.4%), “Azərbaycan Vəkili” (“Azerbaijani Lawyer”) (39.9%), “Qanun” (“Law”) (22.4%), “Azərbaycan Hüquq Jurnalı” (“Azerbaijan Law Journal”) (23.6%), and “Azərbaycan Prokurorluğu” (“Azerbaijan Prosecutor’s Office”) (20.7%).

It was further noted that, in previous years, the Institute developed the ‘Rules for the Preparation of Scholarly Articles in the Field of Law’ with a view to improving the quality indicators of legal journals. In addition, a unified searchable database of articles published in legal journals over the past five years has been established.

The Institute anticipates that the presented report will contribute to improving quality standards of legal journals, enhancing the processes of preparing and publishing scholarly articles, and further stimulating academic activity in the field of law.
