A meeting with a group of journalists was held on the occasion of the National Press Day

A meeting with a group of media representatives was held at the Institute of Law and Human Rights on the occasion of the National Press Day on July 24th. 

The Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade, welcomed the journalists, conveyed his sincere congratulations on their professional holidays and talked about the rapid development dynamics of our press today. M.Guluzade emphasized the great work of journalists in the field of ensuring freedom of speech, opinion, and press in Azerbaijan and expressed his pleasure for close cooperation with journalists.

The Chairman of the Board pointed out on the violations of human rights and freedoms in the media, specifically focusing on issues such as the presumption of innocence after giving a brief statement on the activities of the Institute in the field of human rights. He emphasized the importance of protecting journalists from external influences and mentioned that the Institute prepared relevant training modules and organized two training sessions for journalists.

The Chairman of the Board mentioned about the PASS platform, which was created to collect insights on the practical implementation of legislation and noted that this platform will be beneficial for journalists as well.

Afterwards, the journalists participating in the meeting expressed their gratitude to the board of the Institute for taking them into consideration. They requested to organize an online course on studying human rights for journalists supporting the activity of the Institute in the field of protecting human rights and freedoms. At the end of the meeting, the journalists were awarded a certificate of appreciation for their effective collaboration with the Institute.
