Training on the Protection of Property Rights Held for Employees of the Sabunchu District Executive Authority

On November 3, the Institute for Law and Human Rights organized another training session in its ongoing series on “Protection of Property Rights and the European Convention” for employees of the Sabunchu District Executive Authority.

In his opening remarks, Vafaddin Ibayev, Deputy Chairman of the Institute’s Board, emphasized that the right to property is one of the fundamental human rights. Highlighting the important role of protecting this right in establishing the rule of law and building a democratic society, he stressed the need for public authorities to take into account the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights and the case law of the European Court of Human Rights in their activities.

The training continued with presentations delivered by H. Babayev, Head of Department at the Institute, and H. H. Aliyev, a trainer and expert. The presentations covered the concept of property rights, available legal remedies available for their protection, and relevant judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. During the practical session, participants analyzed legal scenarios based on hypothetical cases and exchanged views on identifying violations of property rights and applying appropriate legal protection mechanisms.

Discussions also addressed the right to the peaceful enjoyment of possessions, the legal grounds for deprivation of property, and the requirements of lawfulness, legitimate aim, and proportionality in cases involving interference with property rights.
