The Institute hosted a presentation on the topic “The Importance of Mediation Processes in the field of Human Rights Protection”

On November 23, at the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Nadir Adilov, Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council made a presentation on the topic “The Importance of Mediation Processes in the field of Human Rights Protection”.
The Chairman of the Board of the Institute, Mahammad Guluzade, the Head of the Department for Human Rights and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ainur Sabitova, various mediation organizations and employees of the Institute participated in the presentation.
The Chairman of the Board of the Institute M. Guluzade greeted the guests by opening the event and informed the participants about the main activities of the Institute, as well as about various legal trainings and educational events.
A. Sabitova drew attention to the consistent and targeted measures taken to promote the continuous development of the justice system in Azerbaijan, the achievements and priorities set, and also noted the established effective interaction with the Mediation Council. The speaker emphasized that the activities of the Mediation Council reduce the burden on the judiciary and increase public confidence. She also noted the importance of such events on regular basis and educational activities in this area.
Further, the Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council, Nadir Adilov, who made a presentation, stressed that the structure he leads is open, transparent and accountable to society, and also informed about the establishment of the Disciplinary Commission as a self-supervisory body within the Mediation Council. He also stated that in the process of mediation, the mediator gives equal opportunities to each party, ensures equality and is specifically useful in family, commercial and labor disputes.
The speaker also brought important statistics to the attention of the participants of the event. He noted that 178 people work as mediators in Baku, in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic - 5 people, and in the regions, a total of 90 people, for the entire period of activity, the institution received about 45,000 appeals, of which 36,613 cases were considered in court.
At the end of the meeting, the work done in the field of mediation was analyzed, the questions of the participants were answered, detailed discussions were held and proposals were made.
