Training on “Human Rights Based Approach” was held

On January 27, 2023, Nikolaj Sanderbye, Chief Adviser on Democracy and Human Rights of the UNDP Istanbul Regional Hub, conducted training on “Human Rights Based Approach” at the Institute of Law and Human Rights. The training was attended by the staff members of the Institute, representatives of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the event, the participants discussed concepts and principles of the mentioned approach, the essence of human rights, the main international documents on Human Rights, the main mechanisms of the UN in the field of Human Rights, the existing procedures in this area, universal periodic reports, and the recommendations reflected in them, human rights and development, including the goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development until 2030, gender equality, women's rights and other issues.
In addition, the trainer spoke about the problems that hinder the full implementation of human rights based approach and their solutions. In particular, the need for non-discrimination, gender equality, transparency and accountability were emphasized. In conclusion, was noted the role of the human rights approach in the comprehensive solution of human rights problems.
