A meeting with the former judge of the Supreme Court, Vafaddin Ibayev was held at the Institute

On November 3, a meeting with the former judge of the Supreme Court, Vafaddin Ibayev was held at the Institute of Law and Human Rights. During the meeting, the participants analyzed and discussed the European Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms, violations in connection with the application of Article 5 of the Convention and the decision of the European Court against Azerbaijan in cases considered under this Article - the right to security (Nagiyev, Garayev, Shanturk, etc. ).
The speaker stated that Azerbaijan is one of the 5 countries on which the European Court of Human Rights has issued the largest number of decisions in 2020. According to the decisions, the most violated rights are the right to liberty and security (Article 5) and the right to a fair trial (Article 6). He also noted that in 2022, 66 decisions were applied against Azerbaijan in connection with the violation of human rights.
At the meeting, the participants were reported to on violations of various rights of media workers by the police officers responsible for the protection of public order, and were also informed about persons who were subject to deportation or extradition measures.
