A Monitoring Report on Legal Journals Has Been Presented
On April 11, the Institute of Law and Human Rights presented its second monitoring report on journals publishing scholarly articles in the field of law.
The roundtable event, attended by representatives of various institutions, legal scholars, and representatives of legal journals, featured a discussion of the findings of an electronic survey conducted among 152 legal professionals and 18 legal periodicals.
Mr. Mahammad Guluzade, Chairman of the Board of the Institute, introduced the report to the participants and noted that the Institute’s objective is not only to assess the current state of legal periodicals, but also to contribute to addressing existing challenges and to promote the advancement of these publications in accordance with contemporary academic standards.
Based on the survey findings, the most frequently read legal journals were“Azərbaycan Vəkili” (The Azerbaijani Advocate) (57.2%), “Qanun” (Law) (38.8%), “Azərbaycan Hüquq Jurnalı” (Azerbaijan Law Journal) (37.5%), “Baku State University Law Review” (27.6%), “Beynəlxalq Hüquq və İntegrasiya Problemləri” (Problems of International Law and Integration) (19.7%), and “Injuria” (19.7%).
During the discussions, the current state of legal periodicals was thoroughly examined, and several noteworthy proposals were put forward.
It is worth noting that, in the wake of the initial monitoring process, the Institute launched a unified platform on its official website, providing contact details for legal periodicals published in the country, along with a centralized search database of articles published therein. The database currently contains 1,063 articles published across 18 legal periodicals. This initiative has significantly facilitated access to legal publications for both readers and prospective authors seeking to publish their scholarly work.
Additionally, to enhance the quality of legal scholarship, the Institute has made publicly available the ‘Guidelines for the Preparation of Scholarly Articles in the Field of Law’.
