Training on the “Legal Grounds for a Statement of Claim” Held for Legal Professionals
On February 27, the Institute of Law and Human Rights (the Institute) organized a training session on the “Legal Grounds for a Statement of Claim” for lawyers, legal professionals, and law students.
The purpose of the training was to enhance the participants' theoretical and practical understanding of the concept and legal nature of the statement of claim, including its content and form, the rules governing its proper preparation, and the procedures for submitting statements of claim through the e-court system. The training also aimed to address common deficiencies, provide support for the preparation of high-quality and well-substantiated claims, and ultimately contribute to the professional development of the legal community.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute, Mahammad Guluzade, stated that proper compliance with legislative requirements and procedural rules when drafting statements of claim can expedite the court proceedings and help ensure a more objective consideration of the plaintiff's claims. The Chairman also highlighted the significance of strengthening the knowledge of lawyers and legal professionals in this area.
The training was delivered by Saadat Bektashi, a member of the Board of Azerbaijan Judges Association and a member of the Expert Council of the Institute; Asad Mirzaliyev, a member of the Scientific Advisory Council at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Honored Lawyer; and Akif Alizade, a member of the Bar Association. In addition to their presentations, the trainers presented practical examples and analyzed the role of the statement of claim in court proceedings. During the training, it was emphasized that the statement of claim is the main procedural document initiating civil court proceedings, and its proper preparation is one of the key conditions for a comprehensive and objective consideration of the case.
At the end of the event, the participants’ questions were answered, extensive discussions were held around current issues arising in real judicial practice, and practical recommendations were provided.
