On June 11, Mr. Vafaddin Ibayev, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Institute and PhD in Law, participated in an event entitled ‘The Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan as a Fundamental Legal Foundation for the Protection of Sovereignty and Human Rights’, held at the Police Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The event was dedicated to Human Rights Day, and ‘Year of the Constitution and Sovereignty’. In his remarks, Mr. Ibayev highlighted the constitutional guarantees of human rights and the legal dimensions of national sovereignty.

The Vice Chairman emphasized that fundamental human freedoms, the essential role of the right to liberty in individual life, and the responsibilities of law enforcement personnel in safeguarding this right are of critical importance in a state governed by the rule of law. He further noted that these rights are comprehensively enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Particular emphasis was placed during the event on the significant role of the Constitution in safeguarding human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as on the significance of these principles in the development of a state governed by the rule of law.

The event concluded with a constructive exchange of views involving cadets of the Police Academy and professionals engaged in the field of human rights protection.
