Another Awareness-Raising Event Held as Part of “Human Rights Month”

On June 10, as part of “Human Rights Month”, the Institute of Law and Human Rights (the Institute) conducted awareness-raising presentations on “Human Rights” for employees of the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture, the Azerbaijan State Theatre Museum, and the Azerbaijan Independence Museum at the Museum Center of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

At the opening of the event, Alla Bayramova, Director of the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture and Honored Cultural Worker, emphasized the importance of holding such an event within the framework of “Human Rights Month” and expressed her gratitude to the Institute for its cooperation.

In his remarks, Mahammad Guluzade, Chairman of the Board of the Institute, provided information on the Institute’s activities in the field of human rights, including its virtual library on law and human rights, efforts aimed at improving the regulatory legal framework, the organization of legal awareness-raising activities, the PASS platform established to enable citizens to submit proposals on legislation, as well as other digital tools and opportunities.     

Subsequently, the Institute’s department heads, Isamaddin Khamoyev and Zumrud Alizade, delivered presentations on the topic, providing detailed information on the place and significance of labour and cultural rights within the human rights system, their interrelationship, and the national and international legal safeguards available in this field.

The speakers drew the participants’ attention to the main provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Labor Code, the Laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan  “On Culture” and “On the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments”, as well as issues relating to the protection of employees’ rights in labor relations, the safeguarding of cultural heritage, the promotion of cultural diversity, and the principles of human-centered development.

The presentations also addressed equal working conditions, occupational safety and health, the right to rest, the legal foundations of employment contracts, and the prohibition of discrimination in labor relations.

The event concluded with a question-and-answer session and an exchange of views on the topic.
