Information Session Held for the Staff of the Institute of Radiation Problems within the frames of ‘Human Rights Month’ Initiatives

As part of the Human Rights Month, being held from May 18 to June 18, the Institute of Law and Human Rights organized an information session titled ‘Human Rights and the Environment’ for 52 staff members of the Institute of Radiation Problems, operating under the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Opening the session on May 27, the Executive Director of the Institute of Radiation Problems, Ms. Ravan Mehdiyeva, emphasized the critical importance of environmental protection and the promotion of human rights as core societal and governmental priorities. She also highlighted the significance of safeguarding the right to a healthy and safe environment.

During the event, expert trainers from the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mr. Hamlet Babayev and Ms. Zumrud Alizade, delivered comprehensive presentations on the concept of universal human rights, relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and recent legal developments. The session also addressed the adverse impacts of environmental degradation on human rights and explored practical approaches to addressing challenges.

Participants actively engaged in interactive discussions covering a broad range of related legal and social topics, including the interconnections between climate change, ecological events, and human rights, as well as contemporary issues related to radiation exposure.
