The Institute held a joint webinar with the Commissioner for Human Rights of Nakhchivan AR

On April 8, within the framework of cooperation between the Institute of Law and Human Rights and the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a webinar was held on the topic “Rights of persons with disabilities and children in international conventions”. The training was attended by the employees of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the Supreme Court, the Bar Association, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs, local executive bodies, as well as teachers and media representatives of Nakhchivan State University. Vahida Bayramova, head of the department of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, welcomed the participants and spoke about the importance of forming human rights based on the principles of humanism and justice and about the protection of human rights in the modern world. She expressed her certainty that today's training will contribute to the protection of the rights of special categories of people.

Natavan Rustamova, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute, presented information about the Institute, and at the same time spoke about the obligations imposed on government bodies by international conventions, and emphasized the importance of the organized webinar.

Heydar Hasan oglu Aliyev, the expert trainer of the Human rights training and examination department of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, made a presentation on the topic “Rights of persons with disabilities and children in international conventions” and noted that two of the seven conventions adopted by the UN regarding individual rights or groups are dedicated to disabled people and children. He also informed the participants about the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in cases considered by the relevant articles of Conventions on the rights of persons with disabilities and children.

At the end of the webinar, questions from participants were addressed and discussions on the topic were held.
