The Educational Training Sessions by the Institute are ongoing in the Police Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Since 2023, the Institute has conducted educational training sessions on 'The Right to Liberty and Security of Person' for 248 police officers across 12 districts and cities", stated Mr. Mahammad Guluzade, Chair of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, during his address at the training session organized at the Narimanov District Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Institute, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, continues a series of educational training sessions dedicated to the protection of human rights and freedoms. The latest training session was conducted on July 9 at the Narimanov District Police Department for 20 investigators and inquirers.

This training session, focused on The Right to Liberty and Security of Person”, as enshrined in Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), addressed the enhancement of professional skills among police officers, their personal development and capabilities, and the strengthening of their knowledge in human rights protection while fulfilling their official duties.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sabuhi Qasimov, Senior Investigator for Special Cases of the Main Investigation and Inquiry Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, emphasized the significance of these training sessions for investigators and inquirers, expressing his hope for the continuation of constructive bilateral cooperation.

During the training session, Mrs. Vusala Muradkhanli, Head of the Institute's Department, and Mr. Hamlet Babayev, Institute's expert trainer, delivered interesting and comprehensive presentations on the duties of police officers pertaining to the restriction of the right to liberty, the prevention of torture and degrading treatment or punishment, as well as Article 30 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Administrative Detention. Furthermore, the provisions of the European Convention on “Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters” were elucidated.

During the discussions, participants' questions were answered, and they advanced a number of proposals and initiatives. At the conclusion of the session, certificates were awarded to the participants.
