Chairman of the Board of the Institute attended the conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)

On November 17, an international conference on "European Convention on Human Rights and Azerbaijan: achievements and perspectives" was held under the joint organization of the Faculty of Law of Baku State University and the Representation of the Council of Europe in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The representatives of international organizations, deputies of the Milli Majlis, representatives of the judiciary, and law students participated at the conference dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the entry into force of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights Mahammad Guluzade, Head of the Council of Europe (CoE) office in the Republic of Azerbaijan Petr Sich, Executive Director of the Center for Legal Examination and Legislative Initiatives Samir Mahmudov, Members of the Milli Majlis Bahruz Maharramov and Kamal Jafarov, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) Latif Huseinov, General Counsel of the Secretariat of the Council of Europe (CoE) Khagani Guliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Bar Association Shahmar Mammadov, Head of the Human Rights and Communication Department of the Ministry of Justice Aynur Sabitova, Dean of the Faculty of Law of Baku State University Zaur Aliyev and others.

Azerbaijan’s commitments  towards the Council of Europe (CoE), human rights reforms, and their positive outcomes were discussed at the conference.    

At the same time, the importance of trainings under the articles of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), organized by the Institute for police and judicial officers was specifically emphasized.
