On April 18 at the Police Academy of the MIA a round table was held dedicated to the execution of Chapter IV of "National Action Program to increase efficiency of human rights and freedoms protection" approved by the Decree of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic on December 27, 2011. The organizers were the Institute for Human Rights of ANAS and Police Academy.

Opening the meeting Rector of the Police Academy, Police Major General Nazim Aliyev reported about the steps taken in the country to protect human rights and freedoms. The speaker, while saying about the importance of the National Program, informed that its performance was one of the priorities for the state. It was noted that activities scheduled to be performed at the Police Academy within the Program will enhance the level of knowledge and abilities of police officers.

Director of the Institute for Human Rights of ANAS, deputy of Milli Majlis Ayten Mustafayeva spoke about the importance of the duties the Program assigned to state structures. She also noted that in Azerbaijan the basic human rights and freedoms are protected by the head of the country. In all areas of life of the republic, which moves along the path of democratic state building, appropriate reforms to strengthen and improve the legal framework are carried out. A.Mustafayeva reported that Azerbaijan had achieved certain success in this field. Specified responsibilities for various industries, terms of their performance and people responsible for the execution referred to in all chapters of the National Action Program make it even more meaningful.

Deputy Director of the Institute for Human Rights of ANAS, Professor Vugar Mammadov spoke on "Perspectives of the Institute for Human Rights for the implementation of National Action Program" and reported on the activities planned by the Institute over the next years.

Head of the Department of state and legal control of the Police Academy, member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Lawyers Confederation Jeyhun Suleymanov spoke on "Activities of the Police Academy in Human Rights Education".

Chairman of the Milli Mejlis Committee for Human Rights, Professor Rabiyat Aslanova, deputy chairman of the Committee on Law Policy and State Building Rovshan Rzayev, deputies Raphail Jebrailov, Ilyas Ismailov, Chingiz Ganizade, Khanhuseyn Kazimli an also Head of Research-Analytical Sector of the Ombudsman Office Zaur Aliyev who participated in the meeting spoke on various issues of the National Action Program.
