The Institute held information sessions for youth within the frames of “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty”

“Approximately one-third of the Constitution is devoted directly to the establishment and protection of human rights and freedoms (Articles 24-71),” stated Vusala Muradkhanli, Head of the Department, at the information session organized by the Institute of Law and Human Rights for youth on February 28.

The information sessions, held by the Institute on February 28 and March 5 on the topic “Ensuring Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, focused particularly on the youth.

Trainer-expert Hamlet Babayev explained to the participants the essence of the concept of universal human rights and spoke about the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan of 1995: the fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as international human rights protection mechanisms.

The session also included information on cultural rights, education, labor, housing rights, the right to use one’s native language, freedom of expression, environmental rights, as well as civil and political rights.

A total of 27 young people attended the information sessions, including students from various universities, and community activists.
