On March 14, the Institute of Law and Human Rights organized an online information session on “The Rights of Persons with Disabilities”.

The event, which was attended by 24 representatives of public associations, discussed the main concepts related to disability, relevant legislative acts, as well as documents related to the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities at the international level and the experiences of different countries.

The meeting, chaired by the Institute’s expert trainer Heydar Hasan oghlu Aliyev, addressed issues such as social protection and pension rights of persons with disabilities within the national legal framework, their rights to education and employment, as well as their access to transport and other infrastructure.

In addition, the discussion covered the international and national protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, complaints mechanisms, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and case law related to persons with disabilities in ECtHR decisions.
