A training session on Raising Legal Awareness organized for employees of the Ministry of Defense
Raising legal awareness in the field of human rights plays an important role. As part of its ongoing efforts, the Institute of Law and Human Rights (public legal entity) organized training on July 21 for personnel from the Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense’s Internal Security and Investigation Main Directorate. The topic of the session was “Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Persons Held in Detention.”
Opening the event, Natavan Rustamova, Deputy Chair of the Institute’s Board, spoke about the importance of ongoing efforts to protect human rights and freedoms. She emphasized that the Institute’s training courses are designed not only for building theoretical knowledge but also improving practical skills.
The Institute’s trainers delivered presentations on topics including the protection of detainees’ rights under national law, ethical conduct, the prohibition of torture, and international standards such as the UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners.
Participants asked questions and engaged in interactive discussions. At the end of the session, 14 attendees received certificates.
