Training session held for employees of the Penitentiary Service and the State Migration Service
On July 18, the Institute of Law and Human Rights public legal entity (Institute) conducted a training session for a total 21 employees of the Penitentiary Service and the State Migration Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The topic of the session was “On Ensuring the Rights and Freedoms of Persons Confined in Places of Detention”.
At the opening of the event, Natavan Rustamova, Deputy Chair of the Institute’s Board of Directors, emphasized that the Institute has always prioritized organizing joint training sessions through productive and effective cooperation with government institutions in the field of legal awareness. She also highlighted the importance of such training sessions in contributing to the legal awareness of state employees and enhancing their practical skills in the area of human rights.
Further, the Institute's trainers made presentations on the protection of the rights of persons detained in places of detention, medical care, special treatment of women and children, the use of force and special means, as well as the “UN Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners”.
During the discussions, participants asked questions about the topics. At the end of the training, following the evaluation phase, participants were awarded certificates.
