On October 27, 2022, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade took part in a seminar on the topic “Risks of money laundering and terrorist financing in the non-profit sector”, organized by the Council of Europe Baku Office.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Justice, the Financial Monitoring Service, the State Committee on Religious Associations and representatives of local non-governmental organizations. Speaking at the event, Mahammad Guluzade informed the participants about the Institute and spoke about the measures implemented in Azerbaijan based on the FATF standards. He emphasized that the NGO sector is mainly funded by the state and poses little risk in terms of terrorist financing, as well as the importance of constantly monitoring the situation and preparing recommendations to address gaps in legislation.
