Doctor of Legal Sciences, Professor, Kamil Salimov

Born on April 12, 1956, in Baku.

From 1974 to 1979, he studied at the Faculty of Law of Baku State University (BSU). From 1980 to 1981, he pursued postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Law of Kharkiv University (Ukraine).

In 1973, he worked as a laboratory assistant at the Azerbaijan Research Institute of Forensic Expertise, Criminalistics and Criminology Problems. From 1979 to 1984, he practiced as a defense lawyer. From 1984 to 1987, he served as Deputy Chairman of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan. From 1988 to 1992, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Criminalistics and Forensic Expertise of the Faculty of Law at BSU. Since 1992, he has served as Head of that department, teaching courses in criminalistics and operational-search activity.

In 1987, he defended his Candidate of Legal Sciences degree at the All-Union Institute for the Study of the Causes of Crime and Development of Crime Prevention Measures under the Prosecutor's Office of the USSR. In 2000, he defended his doctoral dissertation and obtained the degree of Doctor of Legal Sciences at the Research Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

In 2006, Kamil Salimov served as Coordinator of the Public Committee under the Ministry of Justice, which ensures public participation in the rehabilitation of convicts and public oversight of penitentiary institutions. From 2007 to 2009, he was a member of this committee.

He also served as Chairman of the Public Association "Monitoring of Places of Deprivation of Liberty" from 2004 to 2009; as an expert of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 2007 to 2009; and as Chairman of the Joint Working Group on the Implementation of International Human Rights Standards in Azerbaijan from 2008 to 2009.

He is the author of 101 articles, 2 monographs, 4 books, and 1 patent.
