Training on “Academic legal writing” was held at the Institute

On January 13, 2024, the training on “Academic legal writing” was held within the framework of the cooperation of the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan (BARA) and the Institute of Law and Human Rights. 

Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade delivered an opening speech at the training, noted the importance of the event and emphasized the need for every lawyer to have excellent legal writing skills.

Furthermore, the rector of the Academy of the Bar Association, J.S.D., Professor Amir Aliyev welcomed the participants of the event on behalf of the Chairman of the Board of the Bar Association, Anar Baghirov and wished them successful training day.

In his speech, Professor emphasized that lawyers are more practical in analyzing legal problems arising in legal activities, and also noted that those who wish to write academic articles in the scientific and practical legal journal “Azerbaijan Lawyer” will receive support from the editors and that such events will be held on the regular bases.

The training was attended by experts on international law, human rights and information law who were made presentations on two topics: “Types of academic legal writing and international experience” by a teacher at the UNESCO Department of Human Rights and Information Law at the Faculty of Law of BSU and the Academy of the State Customs Committee, Ph.D. in Law Gulnaz Rzayeva and “Structure and drafting of academic legal writing” by mediator and teacher at the UNESCO Department of Human Rights and Information Law, Faculty of Law of BSU, Ph.D. in Law, Shahin Mammadrzali. At the end of the official part of the training, which was received with great interest by the participants, the questions of the participants were answered, certificates were presented and a memorable photo was taken.

A total of 45 people took part in the training, including 27 members of the Bar Association, employees and academic researchers of the Academy of the Bar Association and the Institute of Law and Human Rights.
