Recently, the Institute of Law and Human Rights has created a number of digital database systems and platforms for the purpose of developing legal culture, initiating legal awareness activities, as well as providing information to the public in a convenient and accessible manner.
The Institute of Law and Human Rights (Institute) has introduced the PASS platform, designed to gather insights pertaining to the practical implementation of legislation.
The Institute of Law and Human Rights launched a unified electronic database reflecting the publications, the teaching subjects, h-indexes, and other information of scholars and researchers in the legal science field.
On January 9, 2024 Chairman of Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade, held his first meeting with the staff of the Institute. At the meeting dedicated to the results of 2023, the participants were introduced a brief report of the last year, as well as they received a detailed information about the upcoming plan and goals.
Successive measures are being taken to ensure the rights of minors and women prisoners, who are a vulnerable group of the population, as well as to effectively organize the correctional process (resocialization), leisure and social adaptation; in this direction, conjointly with the applicable state agencies and public legal entities, civil society and international organisations vocational training programs, training courses and other educational activities are being organised in order to improve convicts’ knowledge and skills giving due consideration to their wishes.
An article authored by Mrs. Vusala Muradkhanli, Head of the Human Rights Training and Expertise Department of the Institute, entitled “The Lawfulness of Humanitarian Intervention and Human Rights Protection” was published in the issue of the scientific and practical legal journal “Azerbaijani Lawyer” No. 1 (22) of 2023.
For the conduct of the early Presidential Elections of the Republic of Azerbaijan, appointed to February 7, 2024 in a free, fair and transparent manner, also awareness-raising of the election stakeholders with different status, large-scale activities are being carried out subsequently and systematically.
On December 15-18, a meeting was held on the topic “National Execution Strategy and Action Plan of the Working Group on the execution of resolutions and judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) by the Republic of Azerbaijan”. This event was organized within the framework of the Council of Europe’s project named “Support for the improvement of the execution of European Court judgments by Azerbaijan”,.
A scientific-practical conference was held on “New approaches to ensuring and protecting human rights and freedoms in the globalized world”
Articles authored by legal researchers of the Institute I. Aliyev “Moral Criteria of justice in Law” and N. Ibrahimli “On the unification of criminal proceedings and practical issues” were published in the collection of materials of the republican scientific and practical conference of 01-02 December 2023 entitled “The Academy of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan named after Heydar Aliyev is the bearer of the legacy of the Great Leader”.
On December 8, an exhibition dedicated to International Human Rights Day was held under the joint organization of the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan (UN), Ombudsman, Faculty of Law of Baku State University and the Institute of Law and Human Rights (Institute).
On December 6, the Institute of Law and Human Rights held an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the 25th anniversary of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, and Human Rights Day.
On November 30, the “Human Rights - 75, Baku Conference” dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was held with the joint partnership of the UN Office in Azerbaijan, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Bar Association of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Faculty of Law of Baku State University.
