The Head of the Institute made a speech at a meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee

On March 03, 2023, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade, took part in a public discussion held in the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) and dedicated to the topic of peaceful and legal repatriation to Western Azerbaijan. M. Guluzade, considering the repatriation to Western Azerbaijan in the context of human rights and international law, shared the following conclusions:

The Institute held training related with the ways of having successful and emotional photographs at the events

On March 2, Head of the Press and International Relations department of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Ilgar Aghasiyev, conducted training for the Institute's staff on the topic “The role of successful and emotional photographs in promoting the Institute's activities to the wide public”. The trainer made a presentation and explained the importance of successful photos that convey positive emotions and inspire positive thoughts. The participants also exchanged opinions on the methods of taking good photos with mobile phones at the events of the Institute

On February 27, 2023, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Natavan Rustamova took part in a round table dedicated to quarterly results of the project “Online Public Oversight Platform” www.enezaret.az The “E-nəzarət” platform is an effective tool in terms of ensuring the right of citizens to public participation and providing public control. Our citizens who use the platform bring to the attention of government authorities the problems existing in their communities and related to infrastructure and improvement works, and participate in their solution as well.

Representatives of the Institute took part in the conference

The final conference dedicated to the presentation of the report “Protection orders in cases of violence against women and domestic violence: international standards and national experience of Azerbaijan” was held on February 22, 2023. The conference was attended by Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Mahammad Guluzade and the legal researcher, Saida Hasanzade. The report is aimed at supporting the authorized bodies of Azerbaijan in further bringing the domestic legal basis and policies in line with international standards.

Trainings for convicted minors conducted in the Office of the Executive Power and Probation Service

On February 15-17, trainings for convicted minors were held in the Office of Executive power and Probation Service under the joint organization of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Institute of Law and Human Rights. Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Natavan Rustamova spoke about the importance and regularity of such educational trainings. She noted that the purpose of the trainings is to acquaint our teenagers with their rights, promote social adaptation in society and their development as worthy citizens in the future.

Meeting with the delegation of the Russian Federation

On February 17, 2023, the Executive Director of the Center for Legal Expertise and Legislative Initiatives (Center) Samir Makhmudov and the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights (Institute) Mahammad Guluzade met with a delegation led by the Director of the Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law (ILCL) under the Government of the Russian Federation, Academician Taliya Khabriyeva. At the meeting, the guests were provided with detailed information about the activities of the Center and the Institute, and views regarding future cooperation plans were expressed.

UN published new Guide on Protecting Minority Rights

“A Practical Guide to Developing Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Legislation” was published as a result of the joint efforts of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), and the Equal Rights Trust “Protecting Minority Rights.. The purpose of the present Practical Guide is to help Governments to meet their core international law obligations to respect, protect and fulfill the rights to equality and non-discrimination standards. This Practical Guide helps to detail the broad content and key provisions of a potential discrimination law.

The Institute held training on the topic “Development of Corporate Law in Azerbaijan and further prospects”

On February 10, at the Institute of Law and Human Rights, Professor Kamran Behbutov conducted training on the topic “Development of Corporate Law in Azerbaijan and further prospects” for the employees of the Institute. The trainer made presentation on new innovative methods of digital governance in the field of Corporate Law in Azerbaijan and Eastern Europe. At the end of the training, the participants received answers to the questions on the topic.

Our trainers conducted trainings for teenagers in regions

On February 10, trainings for teenagers were held in our regions (Jalilabad and Bilasuvar) under the joint organization of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Youth Development and Career Center. At the trainings aimed at legal education, trainers-experts of the Institute of Law and Human Rights Vusala Muradkhanli, Araz Abdullasoy and Ismail Musayev made presentations on the topics “Early marriages”, “Domestic violence”, “Legal liability for insults and defamation in social media” and “The Right to Education: Studying Abroad”.

The Institute held training for students

On February 8, trainings were held for undergraduate and graduate students of Universities jointly organized by the Institute of Law and Human Rights, the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Youth Development and Career Center. The opening ceremony was attended by Gadir Khalilov, Deputy Executive Director of the Youth Foundation, Mahammad Guluzade, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Law and Human Rights, and Ramtig Alizade, General Director of the Youth Development and Career Center.
